The Choir in 1972 with its first conductor Mr. Juan Pérez Ribes

 

          The Choir "City of Caspe" began to be gestated in October of 1972, taking advantage of a vocal group whose performances were centred in the religious offices of the local parish, picking up the initiative of the Conductor of the Municipal Music Band of that time Mr. Juan Pérez Ribes.

 

          The Choir began with a whole of 42 members distributed into four vocal ranges: Sopranos 11, Contraltos 12, Tenors 11 and Basses 8.  The first concert took place on April 22nd 1973 in Caspe, at Saint Mary the Major's Parish Church.

 

          Under Mr. Juan Pérez Ribes'  conductionship, several performances were given, among these, it's worth being pointed up the participation in the Festivales de España para Masas Corales (Festivals of Spain for Choirs) in Ejea de los Caballeros, where in 1976 the prize for the best Choir of Aragón was got.

          In 1980, Mr. Luis Nozal Álvarez takes charge of the Choir, being at that time when the performances increased, giving concerts both in Aragón and in other communities.  The Courses of Choral Singing attended in Borja can be also pointed up.

          In 1985, the relief of the direction is taken by Mr. José Vicente García Muniente, being then when the Choir took the name of Grupo Coral "Ciudad de Caspe" (Choral Group "City of Caspe"), due to the limited number of voices.  Within this period can be pointed up the participation in the "Rutas Culturales" (Cultural Rutes) organized by the Diputación General de Aragón (General Deputation of Aragón), as well as several concerts with orchestration.

 

 

 

 

 

The Coral Municipal in 1998 under the conductionship of Mr. Marcos Castán García

 

          Mr. Marcos Castán García, who came from the Escuela de Dirección de la Federación Aragonesa de Coros (School of Conductionship of the Choral Federation of Aragón), takes charge of the conductionship in 1996.  Within this period, the number of members of the Choir raises and the repertory varies including several styles, from the most classical to the most contemporaneous ones.

 

          It can be pointed up the participation in the XI Ciclo de Polifonía de Alcañiz (11th Cycle of Polyphony of Alcañiz), the XIX Jornadas Coralistas Aragonesas de Borja (19th Choral Journeys in Borja), the XXXI Certamen Coral de Ejea de los Caballeros (31st Choral Competition of Ejea de los Caballeros) and the I Encuentro Provincial de Agrupaciones Corales de Zaragoza (1st Provincial Meeting of Choral Groups of Zaragoza).

 

          In 1998, the Choir acquired a Municipal character for the first time in its history and within the same year it is made up in the  Federación Aragonesa de Coros (Choral Federation of Aragón).

          Since 2001, Mr. Joan Carles Blanch i Anguera, who is a Conductor and a Composer, is in charge of the conductionship.
